Adsorption on activated carbon

The Mixture of Air & Hydrocarbons goes through the Carbon Vessels. The HC’s are adsorbed on the AC, the Clean Air goes to Atmosphere.

Success depends on:

  • Design of the Adsorber (internal distribution)

Adsorber design

Top Down Flow: The HC Vapours enter the Vessel from Top and Clean Air goes to Atmosphere through the Bottom:

  • No movement (dusting) of the carbon during vacuum break. The Carbon life time is therefore longer.
  • No elements are on the top part of the unit so no platform is required.
